Springboks confident of Aussie win

Springbok assistant coach Tim Lane is confident that the Springboks will win Saturday's Tri-Nations game against Australia and prevent a series clean-sweep from their Antipodean opponents.

Speaking to the media in Durban on Tuesday, Lane said that the Boks will not follow in New Zealand's steps and become the second team to lose four out of four during the Tri-Nations.

In 1998, when the Boks won the tough southern hemisphere competition, John Hart's All Blacks lost all their games, scoring only two log points in the process.

"We're confident that if we play the way we have been playing, and a couple of refereeing calls go our way, we'll be in good shape," Lane was quoted as saying by Reuters.

Lane added that a winless Tri-Nations would be a very bad reflection of how good this Bok team really is.

"I'm sure the whole country feels that way, not just the team, and probably the Wallabies and the All Blacks as well if they're honest."
