Six Nations: Wales youngsters fall to France
France secured a 30-22 under-21 victory over Wales by outscoring their hosts by four tries to three at Ebbw Vale.
Despite trailing 18-3 early in the second half, Wales fought back but Matthew Brayley's injury-time try came too late.
France showed great pace with the wind behind them as they took a 13-3 half-time lead.
Gavin Henson's 31st-minute penalty provided Wales' only points of the first half.
But Geoffrey Messina breached the Wales rearguard for a first-half try.
Wing Jean-Baptiste Gobelet seemed to have sealed the victory when he crossed for a try in the 41st minute.
But Wales stormed back and nine minutes later Liam Roberts capped a fine move with a touchdown.
In the 59th minute Gobelet scored his second try and Michael Mabilon also crossed the Wales line - but the Welsh still refused to roll over.
Gareth Swales scored the second Wales try after 72 minutes to reduce the French lead to 30-15.
Henson and Robinson each put over a conversion for Wales.
Nicolas Laharrague, replaced for the last quarter, kicked two penalties and a conversion while full-back David Bortolussi also scored a conversion.
