Blackrock 34, Co Carlow 25 (full-time)

Carlow suffered only their second defeat in seven games when they went down to Blackrock in an exciting finish at Stradbrook.

Conor Kilroy landed a 45-metre drop-goal just three minutes from time to put the home side 27-25 in front and Kilroy then converted John Fitzgerald's injury-time score to secure the points.

Carlow had taken the lead 25-24 when Billy Murphy converted Mark Buckley's 66th minute try from the touchline, but the visitors couldn't quite sustain their effort playing against the breeze.

Carlow led 18-17 at the break.
