European Shield: Hodgson the hero for Sale

Sale Sharks' young star Charlie Hodgson grabbed 14 points in his side's 44-6 Parker Pen European Shield drubbing of Connacht at Heywood Road.

Hodgson went over for a try and landed three conversions and a penalty as the Sharks kept up their unbeaten record in Pool Four.

Centre Mel Deane dashed over for two tries as the home side delighted the crowd with seven tries.

Eric Elwood grabbed two penalties in the game as Connacht slumped to a 38-point defeat.
