All-Ireland league champions Dungannon brought newly-promoted Co Carlow

down to earth with a bang today with a 24-point trouncing at Stevenson

Park.

Jan Cunningham scored either side of half-time and four other tries gave

Dungannon a win and a bonus point to kick off their defence of the title.

Dungannon were 34-8 ahead at the interval after Carlow struck early in

the first half.

Dungannon's Ulster players, fresh from their win last night, made the

difference against Carlow, who shocked Young Munster last Sunday.

Carlow began well when in the third minute winger Ian Dywer skipped in at

the corner.

Dungannon soon replied when Bradley put over a penalty.

After 15 minutes the champions were in cruise control after scoring three

tries through Bryn and Jan Cunningham and newcomer Tim Barker.

Ryan Constable slotted home the fourth.

Dungannon continued their demolition job after the interval.

Jan Cunningham scored his second within minutes of the re-start and then

Michael Haslett went over for Dungannon’s sixth try.

Matt Spiller scored his second is as many weeks for Carlow and Bobby

Baggott grabbed another consolation try to leave the scoreline a more

respectable 44-20.
