Rugby: Relief for Munster as Stringer's injury declared minor

Munster have been handed a major boost with the news that scrum-half Peter Stringer should be fit to play in the European Cup semi-final clash with Stade Francais in Lille on April 21.

The Ireland international damaged his ankle playing for Shannon last Wednesday, leading to fears he had broken bones or torn ligaments.

However, tests revealed the injury was not as bad as originally feared, although Stringer will sit out Friday's Munster v Rest of Ireland warm-up at Thomond Park as a precaution.
