St Mary's stepped up their bid for a play-off place with a 21-12 victory

over a Shannon side who slumped to their third defeat in eight days.

The home side established a 21-0 lead with converted tries from Denis

Hickie, Dave Clare and Victor Costello.

Shannon captain Andrew Thompson landed a penalty from the last kick of the

half to lead it 21-3 at the break.

Thompson added three further penalties in the second half but St Mary's held

on to claim the four points.
