Young Munster set up another final date with Cork Con

Young Munster 29 Old Crescent 14: Young Munster and Cork Constitution will renew rivalry at Thomond Park on Saturday, April 14, in the Munster Senior Cup final.

The Limerick men qualified for the decider with a comfortable 29-14 victory over Old Crescent on the 4G pitch at the University of Limerick on Saturday.

Much the stronger side up front, Munsters established control of the contest from the outset and took an early lead with a try by Calvin Nash, an Ireland schools star and a member of the Crescent College side that lost the recent Munster Senior Cup final to CBC.

Further tries by Tom Goggin and Alan Ross and a conversion by another school star, replacement scrum-half Jack Lyons, stretched their lead to 17-0 at half-time.

They moved 29 points clear within 20 minutes of the restart with tries by Mark Doyle and Shane Gleeson and another conversion by Jack Lyons.

To their credit, Old Crescent, runaway winners of AIL Division 2C this season, came back and ran in tries by Larry Hanley and Sean Fitzgerald, both converted by Shane O’Brien.
