Junior rugby: Richmond suffer setback
The Saints took the lead with a try by David Byrne after thirty minutes which Sean Lyons converted.
Richmond were ahead 14-7 with tries from Gearoid Phelan and Pat Humphries. Brian Mullins converted both. In the final minute Niall Crooks scored a try for Mary’s and Lyons converted.
Clonmel extended their lead at the top of the table with a 23-13 away win over Clanwilliam. Dylan Cadogan opened the scoring with a penalty for Clonmel but the home side responded with a try from Andrew Ryan and Niall Leahy converted. A Darren Cass try converted by Cadogan restored Clonmel’s advantage but Clonmel’s Conor Cooney and Leahy exchanged penalties to leave the score 13-10 at half time.
A try from skipper Ronan Cross, converted by Cooney, extended the visitor’s advantage and Cooney and Leahy exchanged further penalties.
Kilfeacle and St. Senan’s drew 6-6. Shane Looby kicked two penalties for Kilfeacle and John Mulready and Declan Rowe kicked one each for Senan’s.
Waterpark eased their relegation worries with a 31-11 bonus point win against Muskerry. John Flynn, Bill Connor, Scot Hornibrook, Kevin Phelan and Eoin O’Connor scored tries for Waterpark and Geoff Deegan kicked three conversions. Rob O’Mahony was Muskerry’s try scorer and Eoin Keohane added two penalties.
Mallow defeated Charleville 19-12 in Division Two with tries from Ed Healy, Tim Fitzgerald and Leo Regan. Jimmy Glynn kicked two conversions.
