Youngsters add new chapter to Munster’s saga of miracles

A decade and a day separated the miracle match and miracle men from those with designs on joining them in Munster’s hall of fame.

Five tries and a bonus point win later, a place in the 2013 Heineken Cup quarter-finals was confirmed and hooker Mike Sherry believes the youngsters of Munster have created their own bit of history.

In 2003 Munster needed to beat Gloucester by 27 points and score four tries to keep their European dreams alive. On Sunday against Racing Metro at Thomond Park, Munster’s task was less demanding — just the four tries and a win would do — but without icons Paul O’Connell, Ronan O’Gara and a host of retired stars it was daunting.
