Brennan ban expires

Former Leinster, Toulouse and Ireland forward Trevor Brennan is free to resume a career today in rugby following the expiration of his five-year ban from the sport.

Brennan, 38, won two Heineken Cup winner’s medals with Toulouse but has not played since 2007, when he retired from the sport following an altercation with an Ulster fan during a European pool game.

He was initially banned for life after he was found guilty of misconduct by Heineken Cup organisers ERC after entering a seating area in the stadium and repeatedly striking Ulster supporter Patrick Bamford but that was reduced to a five-year suspension following an appeal.
