Ulster fans’ ticket frenzy

Ulster’s supporters will descend on Dublin in their thousands for next week’s Heineken Cup clash with Edinburgh.

The Scottish side will just bring 2,000 to 3,000 fans but ERC officials confirmed last night that 40,000 tickets for the game at the Aviva Stadium had already been sold. Should they manage to sell the remaining 10,000 next week it would break the previous record 49,000 for an Ulster game, set at their Heineken Cup final triumph at the old Lansdowne Road in 1999.

Leinster fans facing the arduous trip to Bordeaux better have their tickets though. Already 30,000 of the 34,000-capacity Stade Chaban-Delmas stadium’s tickets have been bought and a sell-out is expected to be confirmed early next week
