Fitzgerald sweats on result of knee injury scan

LUKE FITZGERALD is likely to discover after a scan today the extent of a knee injury which forced him off in Leinster’s 27-3 defeat to Ospreys in the RaboDirect PRO12 on Friday.

Fitzgerald, playing at inside centre, saw his return to action after being left out of Ireland’s World Cup squad cut short during a dismal night for the Heineken Cup champions.

Leinster also lost prop Jamie Hagan, who produced a fine display on his return to the province after his stint in Connacht, to injury during a poor display. Fitzgerald is the biggest worry for coach Joe Schmidt who is without 14 players due to the Rugby World Cup. Leinster bid to bounce back against the Dragons at the RDS on Friday.
