Ard Scoil Rís on sporting high
On Sunday the hurlers reached the final of the Dr Harty Cup and yesterday their junior rugby side caused a huge upset when defeating PBC in the Avonmore Milk Munster Schools Junior Cup at Rosbrien.
In heavy underfoot conditions, they outgunned the Cork side whose cause was lost when hooker Ben Murphy was sent off two minutes into the second half when only a penalty separated the teams.
That penalty came after 20 minutes from splendid Ard Scoil out half Stephen Fitzgerald when Pres were penalised for offside. It was the only score of the half but PBC will regret that out half Conor Flanagan failed with penalty attempts after 20 and 27 minutes.
Ard Scoil took control in the second-half and tries by Shane Fenton and Robbie Deegan, the first of which Fitzgerald converted, ensured their win.
Fifteen minutes from the end prop Patrick Lee got in for a Pres try but it was too little too late.
