DECLAN KIDNEY has hit out at criticism of his medical team and the level of back-up provided to the Irish squad ahead of the Autumn internationals.

The Irish boss was angered by a newspaper article this week which questioned the manner in which the country’s elite rugby players are treated and the time-scale of recovery periods.

But Kidney last night launched a stout defence of the medics and backroom staff insisted that Ireland “have no more injuries than any other international team at the moment.”
