It was their fortitude and resolution, as much as any other characteristic, that came to their aid at Thomond Park last night, when they further sealed their place at the top of the Magners League and more or less clinched a home semi-final with a 16-15 victory over Munster.

It mightn’t have been as clear a score-line as those in the two most recent meetings of the sides, but it was just as satisfying, and enabled them to complete a hat-trick of victories over their greatest rivals, playing in front of a capacity 26,500 home crowd.
