Logan appointed new chief executive of Ulster Rugby
The 46-year-old former Harland and Wolff general manager will take up his post in the New Year when he leaves his current post as chief executive of the Royal National Institute of the Blind, based in Belfast city centre.
A graduate of Bangor Grammar School and Manchester University where he studied Law, Logan has gained a wealth of commercial experience over the last 17 years in various high profile role in a wide range of industry sectors.
His first senior position was at the famous shipbuilders in east Belfast and then following a spell in Centra Russia as Head of Coca-Cola, he spent time as manager director of BP.
Logan, married with two children, is a keen sportsman and is a very keen runner. He has lifelong commitment to the game. Although he didn’t play at a particularly high level, he is very enthusiastic and has helped the club with coaching and pre-season training and conditioning.

Cecil Watson, president of the IRFU (Ulster Branch) said: “The recruitment process attracted a high level of quality applicants for the position and was extremely competitive. Ulster Rugby is delighted to have secured the appointment of someone with such a range and depth of experience, and Shane will bring many levels of expertise to the position.”
Meanwhile, last year’s beaten finalists Cork Constitution have been granted a place in the semi-final of the AIB Cup following the decision yesterday by Queens University not to travel to Cork this weekend for the quarter final.
The third division outfit declined to travel for the game which had been postponed from last week due to adverse weather conditions; Con insist that the Temple Hill pitch was playable and had offered to host the game either last night, today or tomorrow to suit the Ulster club. Con face Ballymena in the penultimate stage on December 19, while Garryowen await to play the winners of the Dolphin/Galwegians clash which will take place at Musgrave Park tomorrow (2pm).
That was another game that fell by the wayside last weekend but Dolphin coach Steve Ford confirmed it would go ahead as planned this weekend. Dolphin will be without Niall Walley who is nursing a leg injury.
