Toulon bid to tie up Carter

TOULON believe they have reached an agreement that will see Daniel Carter play six months for the Mediterranean club if they gain promotion.

Toulon bid to tie up Carter

Toulon backed by the enormous personal wealth of president Mourad Boudjellal already have George Gregan, Anton Oliver and Andrew Mehrtens on board.

With five games remaining in the Division Two championship, Toulon are three points clear of Racing Metro. If Toulon remain top, they will be automatically promoted with a play-off chance against the third, fourth and fifth placed teams to go up if they finish second.

Meanwhile Justin Marshall’s hopes of returning to see out his rugby career in New Zealand have been dashed after New Zealand Rugby Union revealed they could not afford the Ospreys scrum-half.

Marshall wants to return home and play for Canterbury in the Air New Zealand Cup in August.

Last week, Nick Evans, Caleb Ralph and Craig Newby announced they were leaving New Zealand at the end of the year

“It’s amazing how many players are leaving,” said Marshall. “So I was a little shocked they turned away a guy wanting to reverse the exodus and give back to the game in New Zealand some of what I had learned.”
