Final defeat haunts Biarritz

BIARRITZ captain Thomas Lievremont has revealed how the bitter disappointment of Heineken Cup final defeat to Munster has carried over into this season.

“Of course the disappointment sticks in the mind longer,” said Lièvremont. “We have forgotten all the wonderful matches we played and the moments we enjoyed which took us to Cardiff. We can remember only the moment when the Irish captain raised the Cup. It is so hard.”

Biarritz have struggled at the start of this season, but are still fourth in the Top 14, and the Heineken Cup was the launching pad for last year’s run to the Top 14 title, according to the captain. “We hope that is the case again,” he said.
