Family man Williams turns down switch to Perpignan

WELSH international Martyn Williams has turned down an approach from Perpignan.

Williams, 31, was tempted by the opportunity of moving to the French championship and he received positive reports from Wales team-mates Gareth Thomas and Stephen Jones, who both ply their trade across the channel.

But the Cardiff Blues open-side flanker eventually decided the timing was not right for his family on this occasion.
