Charvis may miss Irish clash as Hansen joins Henry’s All Blacks
Charvis suffered a dislocated finger during Wales' 23-10 RBS Six Nations championship victory over Scotland two days ago.
The 65 times-capped back-row forward was seeking expert medical advice today, and a decision has yet to be made whether or not he can lead his country at Lansdowne Road on Sunday.
Wales coach Steve Hansen is due to announce his starting line-up tomorrow night.
Hooker Robin McBryde and lock Robert Sidoli both missed the Scotland game through injuries but are set to return to full training tomorrow, along with Cardiff Blues wing Craig Morgan.
McBryde is expected to complete a full week's training and given his recent club form for Llanelli Scarlets in the Heineken Cup, he could earn a recall at Mefin Davies' expense.
Sidoli should also take an active part in training but he will continue to be monitored by the Welsh medical staff.
Squad hooker Gareth Williams faces a further scan on his injured shoulder tomorrow, while wing Garan Evans who has the same pelvic condition as Sidoli - is also being closely assessed.
Utility back Hal Luscombe is a doubt after picking up a knock to his knee playing for his regional side, the Gwent Dragons, last Friday night.
Hansen is to join the All Blacks coaching set-up after the current RBS Six Nations campaign.
The 44-year-old will once again team up with former Wales coach Graham Henry, who took over New Zealand when John Mitchell's contract was not renewed.
Joining Hansen as an assistant to Henry is Wayne Smith, who will step down as Northampton coach in May.
"They are both acknowledged as being among the world's finest forwards and back coaches," said Henry.
Hansen said: "I am looking forward to working with Graham again and my old mate Wayne Smith." In the meantime, he will remain in charge of Wales.
"Steve Hansen has told me he remains completely focussed and committed to Wales' Six Nations programme," said Welsh Rugby Union chief executive David Moffett. "The New Zealand post is not something that will be exercising his mind until he returns home."
