Happiness wasn’t the only emotion seeping out though. There was a release of relief and tension too, built up over a week he described afterwards as almost unbearable, what with the hype and the injury that threatened to sideline him.

“There was a really intense build-up to the game,” he said. “I definitely felt the pressure, I didn’t enjoy the build-up one bit. This morning was horrible. The last 24 hours were horrific, I didn’t sleep, just this morning.
