FORMER Ireland and Munster flanker David Corkery is looking forward to what he describes as the greatest challenge of his career.
Corkery looks forward to Con challenge

Corkery, capped 27 times for Ireland, is to take over as coach of Cork Constitution next season, succeeding Christy Cantillon.

The Irish and Munster player was forced into retirement because of an Achilles heel injury a couple of seasons ago, but has been employed as a development officer with the Munster Branch of the Irish Rugby Football Union ever since.

In the last year he has coached Clonakilty, but felt he had no option but to move back to his old club when the position was offered to him.

“I really enjoyed my time in Clonakilty. It is a great club with great people, but this was a challenge I just could not overlook.”

Corkery will be joined as assistant by another ex-Munster player of the same vintage, Brian Walsh. “I hope we will make a good team. It certainly won’t be for want of trying.”
