Moylan to coach Ireland team for Scotland game

BUCCANEERS coach Geoff Moylan will be wearing a different hat when he coaches the Ireland team that will play Scotland in a club international in Dublin next March.

The game will take place during the Six Nations as part of a deal struck between the IRFU and AIB that aims to promote the grassroots game nationwide.

Moylan will link up with his old Shannon colleague Mick Galwey and City of Derry’s Gerald McCarter for the one-off game.

That Ireland team will comprise non-contracted club players only, and Moylan says it represents a great platform for club and Academy players.

“I’ve always believed the future is through the clubs and now this gives guys something to aspire to,” he said.

“The players who get on that team may go on to get professional contracts.”

Over the coming months, club officials throughout the AIL will nominate opposition players as well as their own for selection.
