Tough Guy aiming to make up for lost time

GUY EASTERBY has been good mates with Kevin Maggs for a few years now, but there is such a thing as getting too close to somebody — as the Leinster scrum-half found out, two months ago, in a painful fashion.

Half-time was approaching in a Celtic League game between Leinster and Ulster, at Donnybrook, when Easterby made to cut off one of the former Irish international’s trademark bursts through the centre.

Tackling Maggs at full pelt calls for a stout heart, but it also requires faultless technique, and, on this occasion, Easterby was seriously lacking in the latter. The result wasn’t pretty.
