Con bid to dethrone Shannon
Constitution, experiencing a turbulent AIL campaign, must travel to Thomond Park today in a bid to dethrone the reigning cup champions at the semi-final stage.
The game kicks off at 1pm, affording supporters ample time to settle themselves for the Grand Slam climax in Cardiff.
The second semi-final, tomorrow in Musgrave Park (2.30pm) is an opportunity for UCC to test their progress this season against Garryowen.
Con have defeated Dolphin 13-5 and Young Munster 27-15, while Shannon, going for their sixth consecutive title, overcame Old Crescent 36-11 in the first round and received a walkover from Sunday’s Well
On Sunday, Garryowen will be fancied to ensure at least one Limerick representative in the final, as they bid for their 36th Munster Senior Cup title. They’ve already seen off local rivals UL Bohemian and Thomond, but College have already shown in victories over Midleton (24-22), and a facile 33-7 win over Waterpark, that they can not be taken lightly.
With a great win over UL Bohemian in the Dudley Cup last weekend, and the junior team beating Kilfeacle in the Munster Junior Cup quarter final last weekend, confidence is high in the college camp, especially with the anticipated return of their Irish Under 21 contingent from Wales.
Tomorrow: Shannon v Cork Constitution, Thomond Park, 1pm
Sunday: UCC v Garryowen, Musgrave Park, 2.30pm.
