Joseph O’Brien and Go Just Do It expected to triumph in Naas

Although his rating might be a little inflated and the drop back in trip is a slight concern, Go Just Do It should prove too strong

In the wake of his Royal Ascot exploits, Joseph O’Brien will be expected to land tonight’s Race & Stay Irish Racing Tours Rates Race in Naas with class-dropping Go Just Do It.

The highly-tried Kingman colt boasts a rating of 96 and must concede weight to his three rivals. But, assuming he proves effective dropping back to an abbreviated six furlongs, Dylan Browne McMonagle’s mount should prove tough to beat.

Go Just Do It was considered good enough to take his chance in the Tattersalls Irish 2,000 Guineas last time but proved out of his depth, finishing last of nine behind Gstaad.

That Guineas bid came on the back of an impressive, four lengths win in a seven-furlong Gowan Park maiden.

And Go Just Do It’s juvenile form included a second to trojan Warrior in a six-furlong Curragh maiden and, more significantly, a third, beaten five and a half lengths, behind recent French Derby winner Constitution River in the Group 2 ‘Futurity’ at the Curragh.

Although his rating might be a little inflated and the drop back in trip is a slight concern, Go Just Do It should prove too strong for the Ger Lyons-trained Amiata, winner of two handicaps already this season, and Dabid Marnane’s Gavoo, a disappointing favourite for a Curragh handicap on Guineas weekend.

Tonight’s feature, the Group 3 Al Shira’aa Irish RBF Jannah Rose Stakes looks a tight affair but a good opportunity for class-dropping Cameo to strike Aidan O’Brien’s filly, winner of a Curragh maiden at two, toughed it out well to land the Lingfield Oaks Trial before contesting the Betfred Oaks in Epsom.

Not helped by a tardy start, the Wootton Bassett filly raced close to the pace before weakening early in the straight and finishing fifth, beaten almost eighteen lengths, behind Thundering On in a race run in testing conditions.

Now in Group 3 company, Cameo might have the edge over Caught U Looking, winner of the Oaks Trial over this course and distance last time, and the Joseph O’Brien-trained Rebel Moon, successful in a Gowran Park maiden on her debut, form boosted by the third Johanna Walsh at Royal Ascot.

The evening’s banker bet is Jessica Harrington’s once-raced Moonlit Sun in the concluding fillies maiden.

She finished six lengths third on her debut over course and distance, beaten by subsequent Group 3 winner Sparan Nua and runaway Leopardstown scorer Cromac Quay.

And, with improvement likely, the Moyglare-owned Sea The Moon filly sets a decent standard.
