The in-form Monvoe is fancied to claim his third win in four starts this season when he contests the Jim Ryan Racecourse Services Memorial Handicap at Limerick on Wednesday evening.

Seventh was his best placing in an underwhelming first six career starts but the Ray Cody-trained three-year-old hasn’t finished worse than second in any of his subsequent five runs.

Twice runner-up on the all-weather at Dundalk in November, he made the breakthrough at today’s venue in April, scoring at odds of 22-1.

While that success was a surprise, Monvoe proved it to be no fluke when following up at Leopardstown last month, beating Ohmali, a big player in the Twilight Summer Racing @ Limerick Handicap that follows this race, by three lengths.

He fell short in his bid to complete the hat-trick over a slightly longer trip at Leopardstown last week but ran a fine race in the process, finding only How’sthebai too good.

Back over a mile here, he could prove a tough nut to crack.

Recent Roscommon runner-up Earls, trained by Gavin Cromwell, might prove his biggest threat if he backs up that much-improved performance.

Tyson Fury can get the eight-race card off to the best possible start for punters by winning the Limerick Optional Claiming Race.

While the eyes of the racing world were on Gaelic Warrior’s spectacular Gold Cup win at Cheltenham in March, Tyson Fury was cruising to his own emphatic victory in a Dundalk claimer.

On the back of that eight-length success, the Denis Hogan-trained nine-year-old finished second in a Tramore maiden hurdle before again finding one too good in a similar contest at Killarney last month, He was back on the Flat last time out but was unable to land a telling blow in a Curragh handicap.

He was set a tough task that day but ought to be far more competitive in today’s company. A big run can be anticipated.
