Queally and De Boinville shake hands and bury hatchet after 'racism row' at Cheltenham
BURY THE HATCHET: The handshake between Declan Queally and Nico de Boinville on ITV Sport.
After being embroiled in an argument before the delayed opening race of Day 2 at the Cheltenham Racing Festival, Declan Queally and Nico de Boinville have apparently made up.
The incident involved some alleged abuse on the part of De Boinville which Queally described as 'horrific' following the race.
However, a handshake between the two jockeys was organised by retired National Hunt jockey Davy Russell on Thursday where Queally claimed the situation had come to a satisfying conclusion.
"All sorted, just the heat of the moment, all forgotten and forgiven," said the amateur jockey. "All is forgiven, and I wish Nico the best for the future."
Despite the heated encounter and allegations which De Boinville denies, the Englishman also seemed happy to move on: "I appreciated it. All the best to Declan and thanks to Davy Russell for sorting it out."
Something of an uneasy truce, but a truce nonetheless.
Earlier, De Boinville denied allegations that he racially abused Queally saying: "The stewards are gathering all the evidence they can from all the video footage. From my point of view, I deny all the allegations against me.
"I can categorically say there weren't any racial slurs or anything like that. Let's let it play out."
The British Horseracing Authority have said they are still gathering evidence and the process will not be concluded during the festival.
