Ex-Kerry footballer appointed Coolmore Australia's racing manager

Former Kerry footballer Brian McGuire has been appointed racing manager by Coolmore Stud's Australian operation.
McGuire played for Kerry between 2011 and 2014. He left the panel after the 2014 National League campaign, missing out on that year's All-Ireland final victory over Donegal.
The Listowel man joined Coolmore in 2023 as part of their nominations and sales team. He had previously worked with Aquis Farm, Annabel Neasham Racing and Ciaron Maher Racing, as well as spending time with Kildare man Dermot Farrington and Gai Waterhouse Racing before working on his own as an independent bloodstock agent. He sourced weanlings, yearlings and mares for clients.
When McGuire joined Coolmore Australia three years ago, division principal Tom Magnier - son of John Magnier - said, “Brian is someone we have watched and worked with closely over many years. He is a hardworking and knowledgeable person, and we have a huge amount of respect for him." In 2024, McGuire was heavily involved in the world record A$10 million sale of Winx filly Quinceanera.
Coolmore Australia announced McGuire's promotion on Instagram, saying, "We are pleased to announce that Brian McGuire has been appointed Racing Manager at Coolmore Australia. Brian brings a wealth of experience to the role, and we look forward to his continued contribution to the team."
McGuire succeeds John Kennedy who has been appointed New South Wales bloodstock manager for Ciaron Maher Racing.
