Pure Steel, trained for JP McManus by Jimmy Mangan, built on his promising debut run last month to land the Annual Membership Available Maiden Hurdle in Cork.

Ridden by Mark Walsh, the Yeats gelding, who won a point-to-point for Derek O’Connor, made all, and found plenty in the closing stages to beat market rival Luker’s Tipple by a length and three-quarters.
