McCoy starts on road to 5,000 winners

Tony McCoy has one booked ride at Southwell today as he sets out on the road to what could be another 1,000 winners to add to the record haul of 4,000 he reached at Towcester with a trademark ride on Mountain Tunes.

A huge crowd descended on the Northamptonshire circuit – which as always offered free admission – in the hope of seeing history being made and McCoy was in no mood to let his supporters down, driving the Jonjo O’Neill-trained 6-4 favourite home in a last-gasp effort for his boss JP McManus.
