Telescope given Haydock green light

Telescope has been given the green light to run in the Rose of Lancaster Stakes at Haydock on Saturday.

Sir Michael Stoute’s one-time Epsom Derby favourite has only recently returned to action, when victorious in a conditions race at Leicester in July.

Partly owned by Alex Ferguson under the Highclere Thoroughbred Racing umbrella, the Galileo colt is now set to have his first start in Pattern company in the Group Three over a mile and a half.

Highclere tweeted: “Telescope will run at Haydock on Saturday in the Rose of Lancaster.

“Sir Michael reports him to be in good form and Ryan (Moore) rides.”

Narrowly beaten on his racecourse debut at Ascot last September, Telescope got off the mark at the second attempt with a most impressive display at Newmarket.

Such was the impression he made at Headquarters, he headed into the winter as a major contender for the Derby, but failed to make it to Epsom after a couple of setbacks earlier this year.
