Sea The Stars off the mark

The brilliant Sea The Stars sired his first winner on the racecourse as Stars Over The Sea struck gold at Ayr.
A winner of eight of his nine starts for John Oxx, Sea The Stars enjoyed a spectacular three-year-old campaign as he clinched six Group One prizes in as many months, including the 2000 Guineas, the Epsom Derby and the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe.
Retired at the end of 2009, Sea The Stars now stands at the Aga Khan’s Gilltown Stud in County Kildare and his first crop of two-year-olds have taken to the track this season.
The Mark Johnston-trained Stars Over The Sea had shown ability on his first two appearances and was a 1-2 favourite to make it third-time lucky in the three-runner EBF./33 Racecourses Live On Sky 432 Maiden Stakes.
Always travelling powerfully in the hands of Joe Fanning, the youngster quickened up to lead heading inside the final two furlongs and galloped all the way to the line to beat Longton by three lengths.
