Katla collects at Naas
Katla gained another deserved big-race success as she prevailed in a tight finish to the Listed Dark Angel EBF Sweet Mimosa Stakes at Naas this afternoon.
Successful in the Rockingham at York last year when beating the smart Barefoot Lady, John Grogan’s filly had hit the crossbar on more occasion this season in similar company.
But it all fell right in this six-furlong event as Billy Lee produced the strong-travelling three-year-old (7-2) to lead at the furlong pole from Empowering.
The latter fought back but Katla held on by a short head, with 3-1 favourite Alanza flying late for third.
