Brock team target Sales glory
A trip to Ireland is on the agenda for Brocklebank following his disappointing display in the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot.
Kevin Ryan’s youngster looked every inch a Group-race winner in waiting when opening his account at York on his second start but he trailed home a well beaten 21st of 23 runners at the Royal meeting.
Highclere Thoroughbred Racing manager Harry Herbert has certainly not lost faith and he hopes the juvenile will soon get his career back on track.
“He’s fine and it was a very sub-par performance from him at Ascot. We know he’s better than that,” said Herbert.
“He was a bit dull on the day and a bit listless and he ran like it. He was a bit quiet for a few days afterwards but now he’s back in great form – he’s bouncing again.
“He’s a horse who is probably going through a bit of a physical change and there is quite a bit of growing and development going on.
“He might have had something wash over him at Ascot and I think Kevin just wants to take his time with him now.
“His target race this year is the Tattersalls Ireland Sales race at Fairyhouse (September 18). It is worth €150,000 and is just for horses who were bought at the Tattersalls Ireland sale.
“We’ll aim towards that and he’ll have a run, possibly two, before then.”
