After wards off Taigan at Curragh

After got Irish Derby day off to the perfect start for Aidan O’Brien when denying stablemate Taigan by a head in the Dubai Duty Free Double Millionaire EBF Maiden at the Curragh.

Ryan Moore rode a patient race on the 100-30 chance and she was still nearer last than first as the field made their way towards the final furlong.

Debutant Taigan ran green towards the front end, but still mastered 9-4 favourite Lady Wingshot, only to get caught by After beneath the shadow of the post.

O'Brien said: "We thought After was a nice filly, but she disappointed at Tipperary the last day and we still don't know whether it was the trip or the ground being too fast that beat her.

“I told Ryan about her previous two runs and he rode her patiently.

“The plan now is to step her up to Listed class but we’ll go gently due to her disappointing run at Tipperary.”
