Boldan set for Ascot recovery mission
Zain Al Boldan will be given a chance to make amends for her no-show in the Investec Oaks by running in the Ribblesdale Stakes at Royal Ascot next week.
The Lingfield Oaks Trial winner was always behind at Epsom on Friday and finished only ninth while Mick Channon’s other runner Fork Handles was last.
“Friday was a nightmare as far as the running of the Oaks was concerned,” the trainer told www.mickchannon.tv.
“Both Zain Al Boldan and Fork Handles were in the rear in the opening stages and once they were on the turn they had no chance.
“Whilst Fork Handles wasn’t handling the track, Zain Al Boldan’s chances went due to the slowly run race. We had to sit and suffer as nobody made a move at any stage and those up there just kicked on.
“She’ll be back soon enough. She’ll run in the Ribblesdale Stakes on the Thursday of Royal Ascot.”
Channon said Chilworth Lad, third to Hooray in the Surrey Stakes, will head for the Britannia Stakes at Royal Ascot while Sonning Rose goes for the Sandringham Stakes.
