Australian wonder mare Black Caviar made it 13 victories from as many starts with another superb performance in the BTC Cup at Doomben in Brisbane.

Peter Moody’s star performer was settled just behind the pacesetters in the early stages of the six-furlong Group One and although she had to be shaken up rounding the turn for home, she was soon back on an even keel.

Once straightened up, Luke Nolen’s mount showed her trademark turn of foot and swept past old rival Hay List to score with plenty in hand.

“She sends a tingle up your spine. She is something to behold,” said Moody.

“She hasn’t let us down yet, she makes my job pretty easy. She is just a wonderful horse.

“She rolled around the turn and got a bit off balance but when she flattened out she didn’t just beat any mug (Hay List).

“She has probably beaten the best sprinter in the world bar herself.”

Reflecting on the huge crowd in attendance at Doomben, the trainer added: “It is tremendous.

“It is just great to showcase her to the Australian racing public. Now Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane have had that opportunity.

“You have a look around here today, she is just terrific for the sport

“It is great for racing. There’s people who haven’t been to the races for 50 or 60 years here today and people that have travelled here from all over Australia.”

Nolen admitted to feeling relieved the mare had kept her unbeaten record intact.

“She has had the microscope on her for a long while and I think Peter and myself breathe that little bit easier when she wins,” Nolen told www.racingandsports.com.au.

“She puts you at ease just because she is so relaxed.

“We had a lovely run, she settled lovely, there were a couple of cheap sectionals there. I just came up to Hay List at my leisure and then went bang.”
