Wootton Bassett out of Guineas frame

Richard Fahey has run out of time with Wootton Bassett and has ruled him out of this month’s Qipco 2000 Guineas at Newmarket.

Fahey admitted earlier this week he had been desperate to get another key piece of work into his colt, who had suffered a setback in his preparation earlier in the year.

Wootton Bassett, who is also entered in the Abu Dhabi Irish 2000 Guineas on May 21, won all five starts as a two-year-old, culminating in the Group One Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere at Longchamp last October.
