Waterlogged Uttoxeter abandoned

This afternoon's National Hunt meeting at Uttoxeter has been abandoned today due to a waterlogged track.

Clerk of the course Charlie Moore announced a 7.30am inspection due to the threat of overnight rain.

The Staffordshire track has already been hit by a significant amount and with more on the way, Moore has had no option but to draw stumps.

"The meeting is off I'm afraid as we've had 13 millimetres of rain since midnight and it is still raining," said Moore.

"It's due to stop in the next couple of hours but even if it does, the waterlogged areas are not going to drain in time.

"We've got several areas of standing water and even if we knocked the chases on the head, I can't find a safe line for the hurdlers to race on."
