Waterlogged Naas abandoned

This afternoon’s meeting at Naas has been cancelled due to a waterlogged track.

The course was hit by 25 millimetres of rain overnight and Irish Turf Club officials had no option but to call off the fixture.

Turf Club press officer Cliff Noone said: “I think it’s caught them a little bit by surprise as this amount of rain was not expected.

“It’s still raining in Naas now, so they’ve had to cancel the meeting. They are hoping to reschedule for some time next week.”
