No Sunday racing at Fakenham

Sunday’s National Hunt meeting at Fakenham has been abandoned due to snow.

Although temperatures are steadily rising heading into the weekend, the damage has already been done.

Clerk of the course David Hunter explained: “The temperatures were above freezing on Thursday, but none of the snow has shifted at all.

“There’s also the prospect of sheet ice to contend with, which, as everyone knows, can be lethal.

“We do not have the confidence the snow will shift in time so we are not going to be racing.

“There’s still two or three inches of snow on the track. You can hardly see any green, except where the odd dog has peed on the ground.”
