Sedgefield abandoned

Sedgefield’s National Hunt meeting on Tuesday is the latest fixture to fall by the wayside.

The track is currently covered with snow and is frozen underneath, leaving clerk of the course Charlie Moore with no choice but to call the meeting off.

“Not surprisingly we’ve abandoned,” said Moore.

“We have 12 inches of snow on the track and it got down to -13C last night.

“There is a slight improvement in the forecast going forward but we’ll have frost every night so the snow will not shift in time.”
