Wolverhampton’s twilight meeting has been given the go-ahead after a second inspection, it was announced today.

Following an initial look at 1.30pm, clerk of the course Fergus Cameron and his team were unable to give a definitive answer, and decided to look again at 2.45pm due to falling snow.

With a first race of 4pm this afternoon, groundstaff needed at least an hour to prepare the surface.

But with the snow having subsided, Cameron was able to give the meeting the green light.

“Racing goes ahead,” he said.
