Laheeb 'in great order' for Ascot run

Laaheb will attempt to supplement his recent Kempton success in the Grosvenor Casinos Cumberland Lodge Stakes at Ascot on Sunday.

The progressive four-year-old took the Group Three September Stakes on an artificial surface and will now try to win at the same level on turf.

“He runs in the Cumberland Lodge and he’s in great order,” said trainer Michael Jarvis.

“Holberg who was second to him at Kempton takes on Hot Prospect of ours at Goodwood tomorrow. He’d be the one to beat in that I’d have thought.”

Jarvis is also looking forward to running Sajjhaa in the Deloitte Rosemary Handicap at the Berkshire track on Saturday.

The Newmarket handler has always rated the filly highly and was delighted to see her return to winning ways in a Listed race at Bath last month after not proving up to expectations in the Investec Oaks.

“We have always regarded her and we were pleased with her at Bath and we hope she can build on that,” he went on.

Jarvis will decide tomorrow whether to run Cansili Star in the DJP International Handicap at Ascot on Friday or the totesport.com Challenge Cup on Saturday’s card.

“We are undecided and we’ll make up our minds in the morning whether we go for the six-furlong race on Friday or the big handicap,” he added.

“It’s 50-50 at the moment. I’ve got to discuss it with the owner, Alan Spence.”
