Memory fails in Moyglare bid

Memory proved a bitterly disappointing favourite as Misty For Me won the Moyglare Stud Stakes at the Curragh.

Richard Hannon’s unbeaten Memory was sent off the even-money market leader to make it a fourth win on the bounce but she never figured under Richard Hughes as the winner took charge from the off.

Seamus Heffernan kept the Aidan O’Brien-trained Misty For Me (10-1) well up to her work in the final furlong to hold the challenge of Laughing Lashes with Kissable in third.

Hughes was happy to settle Memory towards the back of the pack as Heffernan took control on Misty For Me but the distress signals were evident two furlongs from home.

While Hughes tried his best to get a response from Memory, she lacked the electric turn of foot she displayed in the Cherry Hinton and her rider was not too hard on her in the finish.

Heffernan was enjoying a dream run up front though and Misty For Me kept finding to first repel the run of stablemate Together before holding off Laughing Lashes by a length.

Kissable was flying at the finish and claimed third.

William Hill make Misty For Me a 14-1 shot for next year’s 1000 Guineas while Memory has been eased from 5-1 to 8s for the fillies’ Classic.
