Fifth Ave takes Kempton prize
Fifth Ave benefited from a drop in grade to land the Digibet.com Nursery at Kempton in pleasing fashion.
Prominent throughout, Sophie Doyle never reached for the persuader aboard the 8-1 shot and benefited from the hot early pace set by Inagh River, pushing out the Jamie Osborne-trained filly for a stylish one-and-three-quarter-length victory over Hortensia.
"She had a very busy first part of the season and then we gave her a six-week break and this is her first run back", said Osborne.
"I always thought 77 was a mark she could win off, so it was a surprise to see her as the outsider.
"She is on Friday at Sandown and the five up the hill should suit her."
John Gosden's excellent form continued as Flower Fairy landed the Olly Murs Live On Ladies Day Maiden Fillies' Stakes.
William Buick pressed on inside the final two furlongs aboard the even money favourite and found more when needed to hold off the challenge of Wulfrida to score by two lengths.
Flower Fairy was presenting Gosden with his 12th win in just under two weeks, taking his tally to 58 for the year so far.
