Reverence is on course to attempt back-to-back victories in the Flying Five Stakes at the Curragh in two weeks’ time.

Eric Alston’s admirable nine-year-old sprinter made the most of his favoured heavy-ground conditions to take the Group Three contest last August.

Alston is slightly ruing his decision not to enter Reverence for Friday’s Coolmore Nunthorpe Stakes at York which he won in 2006.

“We didn’t enter him in the Nunthorpe unfortunately as it looks like it might rain,” said the Preston trainer.

“He’ll go for the Flying Five in a fortnight. He won it last year so we’re going to go for it again. Hopefully he’ll get his conditions there.”
