High Heeled had to settle for second place despite making a late surge in the Prix De Pomone – Haras D’Etreham at Deauville.

William Buick brought the John Gosden-trained filly with a rattling run on the outside on the rain-softened ground, but she could not quite get to the winner, Peinture Rare.

Burn The Breeze set the pace with the Clive Cox-trained Polly’s Mark, Peinture Rare and Mark Johnston’s Eastern Aria in close attendance.

Anthony Crastus sent Peinture Rare, trained by Elie Lellouche, into the lead early in the straight and the four-year-old battled on gamely to land the spoils.

High Heeled denied Burn The Breeze for second spot but her challenge came too late to worry the winner.

The race lost some of its sparkle when the likely short-priced favourite, Daryakana, was a late non-runner.
